Mike Schmidt has over 20 years’ experience in the health, wellness and fitness fields, helping residents improve both their mind and bodies. He earned his Bachelors of Science in Exercise Physiology from Florida International University and holds the highest accredited certification for exercise physiology, CSCS by the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Schmidt, owner of Senior Fitness of Florida, has managed and directed all fitness and wellness programs at Abbey Delray South for the past 15 years, increasing resident participation by 500%. In the past four years he has worked with Lifespace Communities on the development of their Corporate Wellness Manual, designed and managed construction of new fitness facilities at Abbey Delray, Harbour’s Edge and Abbey Delray South, and started successful fitness programs at Abbey Delray and Harbour’s Edge, increasing resident participation by 700% and improving the Resident Satisfaction Survey by 17% (78 to 94.2 approval rating). He has recently been recognized by the International Council of Active Aging for his development of the fall prevention programs for seniors with Florida Atlantic University. Schmidt has presented at various wellness conferences including his most recent presentation at the Leading Age Conference titled “A Wellness Journey”. He has had multiple publications in local newspapers and can be seen in the Shirley Maclaine and Cameron Diaz feature film “In Her Shoes” where he was a trainer to the stars.
With over 17 years of health care experience through various hospitals and wellness communities, Carmine is well versed in the fitness field. A graduate from Florida Atlantic University with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and Health Promotion where he was president of the department club; leading the students to a fulfilling educational development. Carmine is responsible for the design and implementation of numerous wellness programs; most notably recognized as the creator of the highly successful Boca Raton Regional Hospital wellness program at the Town Center of Boca Raton. Delivering a variety of lectures ranging from benefits of exercise to post-surgical healthcare; Carmine can be found presenting in many local South Florida health events. Currently, Carmine is in development of a computer-based reward program specifically designed to increase senior community occupancy while supplying residents with a fun way to track their health progress and deliver membership benefits.
